Born in Virginia, raised in Puerto Rico, and Alaska grown; Nicole Cowans is an Afro-Latina fluent in English and Spanish. Her culturally unique upbringing fuels a deep desire to positively impact the world through performance and healing arts. She holds a MFA in Drama from the University of California Irvine, is a Certified Fitzmaurice Voicework Teacher®, and has been teaching Knight-Thompson Speechwork since 2016. As a performer, Nicole is professionally represented for voice-over by Atlas Talent Agency, and commercially by A3 Artists Agency. As an educator, she has taught at; University of California Irvine, Center Theatre Group, Pacific Residence Youth Conservatory, Laselle College of Arts in Singapore, Seydways Acting Studio, Cal State University Fresno, Institut D'l Teatre in Spain, The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and Adishakti Laboratory for Theatre Arts Research in India. Currently, Nicole is focused on growth in her career as a performer, nurturing a blossoming private practice, and teaching academically at Open City Acting Studio, Crafton Hills Community College, Stella Adler Art of Acting Studio, and University of California Santa Barbara. She believes art has the ability to facilitate amazing things in the world, and is most passionate about work that moves and inspires people to be more empathetic and inclusive.
